Understanding the Results
Each setup is scored and assigned a grade based on the strength of the detected pattern and supporting technical indicators. The scanner runs daily against all S&P 500 stocks.
Grade A (≥65 pts) — High-confidence setup with multiple confirming signals.
Grade B (≥45 pts) — Solid setup, worth monitoring for entry.
Watch (≥30 pts) — Early-stage pattern forming; not yet confirmed.
Pattern Glossary
Bull Flag — Sharp rally (flagpole) followed by a tight, downward-drifting consolidation (flag). Breakout above the flag signals continuation.
VCP — Volatility Contraction Pattern. Successive tightening pullbacks on declining volume, signaling a supply/demand squeeze before breakout.
BB Squeeze — Bollinger Band Squeeze. Bands narrow to historic lows, indicating compressed volatility that often precedes a strong directional move.
MA Crossover — Short-term moving average crosses above a longer-term average (e.g., 20 EMA > 50 SMA), signaling a momentum shift.
Cup & Handle — Rounded bottom (cup) followed by a shallow pullback (handle). Cup depth and handle depth measure the amplitude of each phase.
High-Vol Gap — Stock gaps up on significantly higher-than-normal volume, often driven by news or earnings. Gap fill vs. continuation is key.
Signal Terms

Flagpole — The initial sharp price surge before a flag consolidation begins.
Handle Depth — How far price pulled back during the handle phase of a cup & handle, as a percentage of the cup high.
Cup Depth — The percentage decline from cup rim to bottom, measuring the correction's severity.
Insider Flag — Recent open-market insider purchases detected, adding conviction to the setup.
ETF Consensus — Stock appears in multiple top growth ETFs, indicating institutional overlap.
